ABOUT US

There's a lot to know. We'll keep it brief.

In 1984, after a successful career in retail management, John W. Seltzer entered the life insurance business with the ultimate goal of owning his own company.  John was invited to join a nationally recognized life insurance practice in 1987 to begin an employee benefits division.   Eventually, this new business venture became one of the largest employee benefit firms in Western Pennsylvania.  When this company was sold in 2010, John joined his son Jason in establishing their own company.  John believed this was the best way to continue his philosophy of being a true consultancy to small and mid-sized employers and to grow and expand the business as a result of changes taking place in the market. 

While J. Seltzer Associates has many faces and names not listed here, we wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the principals and founders of our firm.  When you work with us, you are working with the owners of the company.  You are getting a level of expertise that is typically only available to large employers.  You are getting a local firm with over 100 years of combined experience as well as the resources of a national organization.  You get the best that the industry can offer.  We look forward to telling you more.

Most of what you need to know about John is written above.  John also maintains an active role in the community.  He is a former Mt. Lebanon School Board Director, founder and former president of the Mt. Lebanon Foundation for Education and former member of the CCAC Foundation Board.  He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and the Development Advisory Board of Variety The Children’s Charity.

John is responsible for setting the vision of the organization, managing relationships with our business partners and vendors, and developing corporate strategy.

Jason Seltzer

Yes, it's true: Jason used to be an actor.  No, you didn't see him in anything.  Jason was recognized as one of Pittsburgh's 50 Finest in 2008 and is a former board member of the New Hazlett Theater as well as the Pathways Of SWPA Golf Committee, National Association of Health Underwriters, Pittsburgh Association of Group Executives and the Denison Alumni Recruiting Team and Committee.
Jason is responsible for managing business development, marketing, client services, account management and operations.
